Fat Foods Lies, Misinformation and Deliberate Confusion

In the westernised / industrialised world, there has been much lies, misinformation and deliberate confusion given to what types of fats and oils we should be getting in our diet. In fact, I will go so far as to say this. That one of the biggest causes of the illness epidemics; heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, organ dysfunction, mental diseases... we've had over the last eighty years or so, have to be down to the poor fats and oils eaten.
- This, with a lack of quality fats and oils in the diet.
Now consider yourself to be judge and jury. Allow me to put forward my case. I accuse the food establishment (and those it is undoubtedly in cahoots with) of: Lies, deception, misinformation, cover-ups, shoddy science and confusion, in order to profiteer. They have managed to convince the consumers over the years that their food products containing all the newfangled junk fats and oils are healthy. But, truth is known; through commercial greed they have caused more harm than good.
... And this is how it has been achieved.
Let's turn the clock back to around the 1920's. This was a time when illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes and other epidemic disorders were quite rare in the westernised / industrialised world. So it may well beg the question: What has happened for there to be such an appalling rise in these disorders over the last 90-odd years? How have they got to epidemic levels? Why, for example, has heart disease today become the cause of over 40% of deaths in the USA?
During the early years, before any significant rises in the epidemics, basically 2 major things happened that allowed the health of many, many individuals to suffer as a consequence. The suffering continued to escalate in numbers over the years and carries on to this day...
With regards to these 2 things (2 factors), one effectively promoted the other. Thus, allowing both progressing and gaining acceptance with its ill-informed consumers. This is why I firmly believe that it was not a coincidence that these things occurred together. Both had been orchestrated to happen this way. They were put in place at the right time... More on this later.
- These two things were:
Consumers were told that through 'scientific evidence' it was found that low saturated fat and low cholesterol in the diet would reduce heart disease.
More and more foods over the years were manufactured containing more unsaturated fat and less saturated fat was consumed. A low fat diet was also considered to be the so-called safer alternative.
- Both of course, are still accepted in the mainstream today.
Let's look at factor number 1. Is it true? Has a low-sat fat and low cholesterol diet really contributed to less heart disease? What about the so-called incontrovertible scientific proof that it has?
- Let's examine the evidence.
A part of my upbringing, I've been led to believe that any major finding should be supported by major evidence. In the case of the low-sat fat diet and low cholesterol leading to less heart disease, the evidence for this, to say the least, is not that convincing, which may come as a surprise to many.
Was this the start of genocidal misinformation?
As far back as 1948, a study began. It looked into the relationship between saturated fat and cholesterol intake in roughly 6,000 humans over 5-year intervals. This was called the Framingham study (conducted in Framingham, Massachusetts, USA). On inspection of the results, comparing the 2 groups:
One group with a high sat-fat / high cholesterol diet and
The other group with a low sat-fat / low cholesterol diet
Doctor William Cannel, the Framingham study's director stated in so many words that,
'Total plasma cholesterol is a powerful predictor of death related to CHD... '
However, some 40 years later, on closer inspection we find that the above statement was not consistent with the real findings. Without fanfare, revealed in some little-known journal, an admission by Dr William Castelli, the study's successive director sheds some light on the truth of the matter. Basically he said:
'In Framingham, Massachusetts, the more saturated fat one ate, the more cholesterol one ate, the more calories one ate, the lower the person's cholesterol... we found that the people who ate the most cholesterol, ate the most saturated fat, ate the most calories, weighed the least and were the most physically active'
The study did show that those who weighed more and had abnormally high blood cholesterol levels were slightly more at risk for future heart disease: but weight gain and blood cholesterol levels had an inverse correlation with fat and cholesterol intake in the diet'
- In other words, the Framingham study did not show that a low sat-fat and low cholesterol diet reduced the risk of heart disease. Many other studies have also led to the same conclusion.
Other findings such as that from heart surgeon Michael DeBakey squarely contradict the idea that high cholesterol = heart disease. Having looked into 17,000 patients, he found no relationship between cholesterol and cardiovascular problems...
A nutrition journal revealed a study from a medical research council showing that men eating butter (sat-fat) were 50% less likely to get heart disease than those on margarine (poly unsaturated fat)
Inhabitants of northern India are known to eat 17 times more saturated fat than southern Indians. However, the incidence of coronary heart disease is 7 times less in northern India...
However, in spite of these studies, like many others showing a lack of evidence for the lower sat-fat and lower cholesterol diet as the healthy option, they have been ignored.

How to Choose a Rental Car

It is not uncommon for vacationers to elect to use rental cars during their vacation. There are many benefits to selecting to use a rental car; specifically because certain locations are more accessible with a car than without one.
However, not all rental cars and companies are made the same and one should weigh certain options before booking a rental car during their travels. One of the biggest factors which travelers should consider before booking their vehicle is the company's operating hours.
It is best to choose a company with a 24 hour drop off and pick up option. This allows travelers to plan their time around their schedule in addition to not be stranded or locked out if they arrive after 5:00 pm. This flexibility will give vacationers extra peace of mind while they are exploring a new locale.
In addition to 24-hour availability, one should look for fluency in their chosen language. Many people book rental cars for their international business needs or vacations and being able to communicate with the rental car company is a must. Very few travelers are able to ask about their rental vehicle's features and understand complex directions.
Therefore it is a must for the client and the company to be able to communicate in the same language. Additionally, one should be sure to inquire about the language in the GPS features, otherwise it may be rendered totally useless to the traveler. Having the company switch the GPS's language to the clients is a must for travelers.
When booking transportation, the customer will be asked what size vehicle he or she desires. This can be a tricky question since car sizes in the United States are typically larger than vehicles in the corresponding categories in other countries. Customers should have an understanding of the vehicle sizing for the country they are traveling in.
Yet, before booking a specific size category, customers should take into consideration the number of travelers, their gas prices and the amount of luggage which will be with them on their trip. Whereas a compact car can comfortably hold a person and a carryon bag, it may not work for a sizeable amount of luggage or multiple travelers.
As many people know, money can be tight on vacation and one does not want to spend a significant amount of money on gas. It is common for gas prices to cost roughly $3 and more per liter. It takes nearly four liters to make one gallon, therefore a gallon of gas can cost a traveler $12 or more per gallon.
Expensive gas prices aside, there would be nothing worse than someone arriving to retrieve their car only to discover that they cannot drive it. When booking a car, it is paramount that one ensures they are booking a transmission that he or she can drive. They should also have a realistic view of their driving abilities.
Driving a manual transmission in Berlin is much easier than driving a manual transmission in the Scottish Highlands. Not to mention that booking a manual transmission in the United Kingdom will mean that the customer will have to shift with their left hand.
Thus, travelers should book automatic transmissions whenever possible. It is much easier and attempting to shift gears while looking for a location is much harder when one is doing it in unfamiliar territory.
Renting a car should not be a headache-inducing experience. Thousands, if not millions, of travelers elect to use rental cars to enhance their vacation or business experiences. Yet, wherever they go, they should thoroughly consider their traveling needs to have a positive experience during their visit.

The Job Interview

The second step in getting a job is having an interview with a potential employer. The first step was sending your application and after careful review by the company, you are seen as candidate for the vacant position.

The employer got this information through an ad that was placed in the paper, referred by someone in the company or a headhunter, or by a person who simply submitted an application via the company’s website.

The first impression employers always look at is your resume. Given the many that apply, this usually takes about 30 seconds and so with the limited words, one must be sure that the resume is well written and grammatically correct.

During the interview, most employers want to know more about person since the resume only gives certain information such as the person’s name, age, address, contact number,  social security number, past and current employment.

The employer will likely ask about the experiences, lessons and accomplishments one has done and learned working for another employer. This will usually include how the person handled a situation in the company, the challenges of the job and the relationship with coworkers.

Another question will be the relationship between the applicant and family members. This shows character with how the person interacts with people who are close and those that know the person for a long time.

The employer will usually ask why the person applied in the company and where you would like to be in 5 to 10 years. Long term questions such as this will show if there is dedication for the job at hand and if the company can provide something beneficial for both the applicant and the employer.

Companies follow a certain budget in hiring qualified personnel which is why the interviewer will ask how much one desires to get for the job. If what is being asked is too high, the employer will usually ask if the salary is open to negotiation.

After the employer asks questions, room is usually given for the applicant to ask questions in return. This is the best time to know a little bit more the company one might be working in and to get a feel of the potential company.

If there are no more questions, the interviewer will then end the meeting and call the applicant back if the person has passed the initial interview so that the next phase of the application process can begin.

So You’re Tired of Being Fat? So was I…

Fat
Are you craving that summer beach body? Trying to lose the spare tire, get those six pack abs, the firm, tight butt? If so, then I’m sorry, but we don’t have a whole lot in common.
Your trouble is one of inconvenience, a small dip in the road where you’ve come to rest. You just need a small push to get rolling toward your goal again; your way forward is clearly marked.
If, on the other hand, you’ve been cycling through the same two pairs of pants because you swear that’s as big as you’re going to get, if you then dread shopping for clothes because you find tacking another X onto your clothing size humiliating; If you hate being photographed because you’re not sure you’ll fit in the frame, well, then maybe we do have some common ground. Because chances are, you’ve found yourself deep in a hole, using food the way some people use cigarettes or alcohol: to make yourself feel better.
I was fat in high school, all sugary soft drinks and video games. In college I managed to shape up, the result of buying into a chemical-laden low carb diet full of artificial sweeteners (anything to satisfy that sweet tooth) and a 2nd job that required me to move 40 pound boxes 4 hours a night. After college, however, the combination of a sedentary lifestyle, poor nutrition, and being seriously defeated in the recession-tainted job market created the perfect formula for an increased waistline as I had to eat more to cope with my circumstances. I ballooned well beyond the socially-accepted definition of fat: the labels ‘5’6”’ and ‘280 pounds’ do not belong together under any circumstances.
My excessive weight was a sore subject for me, so while I quietly tried to eat healthy and introduce diet strategies that had worked in the past it was far too easy to succumb to outside pressures. A diet started Monday would be ruined by drinks and all-you-can-eat sushi on Thursdays with coworkers (funny how the best intentions of friends are often counter-productive to building healthy habits). If the week was especially stressful then by Saturday it was a pint of Ben & Jerry’s, or a shake from a fast food joint, followed by another half-hearted attempt on Monday. This is assuming I bothered to make the attempt at all; don’t get me started on weeks when I didn’t have the energy to make an effort. Of course, I saw no point in starting an exercise regimen if my diet was out of whack, which seemed as good a reason as any to stay on the couch.
Eventually, I’d found that things in my life were sorting themselves out. I was recovering from the impact the recession had had on me personally, and I reached a point where I realized that while many things in my life were getting better my health had been practically neglected. It was at this point that I strengthened my resolve, and decided to set everything else aside and make health the primary focus of my life. Things were going to be different THIS time.
In actuality, I was still stuck in that hole, uncertain of how I’d get out.  As it goes, the universe conspired to drop a line right in front of me (funny how that happens after you make a decision and take the first step towards accomplishing it). No more than a week after I was beginning my plan to seize back control of my health and wellbeing did I read a Facebook post from an acquaintance from middle school whose only contact with me throughout that time period was vague acknowledgement during rides home on the school bus. His name was Luke Sniewski, and this is what he posted:
ARE YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW LOOKING TO LOSE 75+ POUNDS? ARE YOU PREPARED TO CHANGE EVERY DETAIL OF YOUR LIFE TO DO SO? CONTACT ME FOR INFORMATION ON STARTING YOUR LIFESTYLE TRANSFORMATION.
I didn’t really understand the term Lifestyle Transformation (?) at the time, but after I pretty much signed my life over to Luke by committing to his program for 6 months my life began to change in a big way – pun intended. I’m writing this to tell you that I’ve lost 80 pounds in 16 weeks, and am still dropping weight.
It hasn’t been easy, and I’m not saying that what I’m doing or how I’m doing it is for you. What I can tell you is what I personally experienced along the way since I’m sure the the mental battles we fight are the same regardless of who you are and where you come from. In the coming weeks I’ll be giving you a first-hand (admittedly  subjective) glimpse of challenges both expected and unexpected that I’ve faced on the road to a happier, healthier, and leaner me. And who knows; my journey may provide you with the insight, motivation, and guidance you need for your own lifestyle transformation. Luke told me that the only thing he wanted in return for his help was for me to help others. So, here it goes.
